Víctor, Trainee Business Development
“I expected to be part of building something new and to learn from experienced people.”
Why did you choose the Statkraft International Trainee Programme?
I was attracted by the combination of a deep insight into the energy market and hydropower in Norway, as well as the growth in international markets. I expected to be part of building something new and to learn from experienced people –and I can safely say that my expectations were exceeded.
My favourite part is the opportunity to travel, meet people from different disciplines and really get to know them.
Tell us about your trainee experience so far!
My home department is in business development in Madrid, Spain, where I help create a project pipeline with new projects.
My first rotation was in Wind Development, where I dove deep into all the different efforts it takes to make a project possible. I currently work at Market Analysis in Oslo, Norway, and study the southern European markets to create forecasts for energy prices in the near future.
What would you say to a friend who was interested in the programme?
If you know you want to contribute to the energy transition but still aren’t sure where they fit in the puzzle this programme will give a full view. It helps you understand what suits you best.
I’ve, for example, been able to train both my adaptability and my project management skills. I have been given the opportunity to learn so many ways and styles of working, presenting and leading teams – insights that will be very useful in my future career.
